MARKÉTA DVOŘÁKOVÁ

Markéta Dvořáková (1974), mezzo-soprano. After graduating the Pedagogic Faculty of Charles University in Prague she studied opera-singing at the Conservatoire in Teplice. She became a founder-member of the Middle-Ages-style group “Schola specialis” in 2000 and then, one year later, she started to get a solo career. She sang at festivals Ars Cameralis Katowice 2001, Tribuna komorní písně Plzeň 2002, 2004 and 2006, Ecumenical Festival in Berlin 2003, Smetanova Litomyšl 2003, Early Music Festival Český Krumlov 2003, Górnośląski Festiwal 2003, Brno 2004 and 2005, Banská Bystrica 2004 and 2006 except others.
She follows mainly classical concert repertory with works of J. D. Zelenka, G. B. Pergolesi, J. S. Bach, G. F. Händel, W. A. Mozart, A. Dvořák, B. Martinů and other composers of 20th and 21st century. She is a solo-singer of the Orchestr Atlantis and a smaller group called Atlantis Collegium.
Markéta Dvořáková is a much-sought-for interpreter of contemporary music – many composers write just for her: Vlastislav Matoušek, Markéta Dvořáková (consonance of names), Bohuslav Řehoř, Ivo Medek, Miroslav Pudlák, and others. She also sings works of world-famous authors of experimental music, for instance John Cage, Giacinto Scelsi, Morton Feldman, Steve Reich, and follows vocal improvise. She has performed a character of the Tarracan at the opening night of Vlastislav Matoušek´s opera “the Eighth Way” (according to the model of St. Łem), and leading characters of Miroslav Pudlák´s opera-farce “In the Shade of Sausage” and of Ivo Medek´s opera “Doctor” were written for her (2002).
From 2002 she acts at the theatre Archa in Prague (performance “Questioning heaven in dispair” under direction of J. A. Pitínský and “Tearoom KarMa” under direction of Jana Svobodová). In 2004 she performed the leading character at the first night of the opera MrTVÁ? from Ivo Medek and Markéta Dvořáková (consonance of names) at the Noble Theatre in Prague.
I 2006 she shares revival and performing on opus of songs from Czech-German composer Václav Jindřich Veit by his 200th anniversary of birth. She also assists identifiebly at revival of an opus of songs of Miroslav Kabeláč and other composers of the post-war generation by her concert activity. Together with a baritone singer Petr Matuszek she has studied the concert programme “The Czech Spiritual Songs of Middle-Ages”, which they perform successfully at festivals and individual concerts both at our place and abroad.
She can offer CD records (The Czech Spiritual Songs of Middle-Ages), recordings at the Czech Broadcasting Corporation (opus of songs from Josef Bohuslav Foerster and Jaroslav Ježek) and at the Czech Television.
